Anlässlich des Internationalen Tag gegen Homo-, Bi-, Inter- und Transfeindlichkeit (IDAHOBIT) bringen wir einen weiteren Newsletter heraus.
Empfang der LGBTIQ Intergroup im Parlament
Letztes Jahr gründete sich eine überparteiliche Arbeitsgruppe, die LGBTIQ-Intergroup. Diese soll den Austausch zwischen Politik und der LGBTIQ-Community fördern. Anfang April wurden Vertreter*innen der Community zum Empfang ins Parlament eingeladen. Bei der Talkrunde wurde u.a. auf den fehlenden politischen Schutz von inter* Kindern und gegen Konversationsbehandlungen aufmerksam gemacht.
Drag is not a crime Demo
Am 16. April fand erneut eine Kinderbuchlesung einer Drag Queen in der Türkis Rosa Lila Villa statt. Nur dieses Mal versammelten rechte Gruppierungen, darunter die FPÖ und Identitäre, rund 100 Leute. Sie
versuchten so die Lesung zu stören. Die queerfreundliche Gegendemonstration mit rund 500 Personen positionierte sich schon seit dem Morgengrauen in und rund um die Villa. Zwischen den zwei Demos waren Tretgitter und mehrere Reihen Polizist*innen. Laute Buh-Rufe und Musik, u.a. von Queen und ABBA, waren die Antwort zu den Reden mit hetzerischem Inhalt. Währenddessen fand in der Villa wie geplant die Kinderbuchlesung statt. Drag Queen Freya Van Kant las rund 40 Kindern und Eltern vor. Das
Märchen handelte von einer Prinzessin, die den Prinzen vor einem Drachen rettete.
Am Nachmittag gab es dann noch eine Solidaritäts-Kundgebung mit Reden und Auftritten von queeren Musiker*innen und Drag Künstler*innen. Fotos und Auszüge aus den Reden der Vorstandsmitgliedern Diana und Rhonda sind hier zu finden: https://www.instagram.com/p/CrJQH35M-y0/
Ein riesengroßer Dank gebührt allen, die organisiert und mitgewirkt haben und den Freiwilligen, die unter anderem die Familien zur Lesung begleitet haben.
Night of Trans Joy
Zum Abschluss der Kunstausstellung wurde noch einmal ins Villa Vida eingeladen. Es gab Musik und Drag Performances, natürlich auch von TIN* Personen. Im Hof konnte am Lagerfeuer entspannt werden.

Petition “Schützen Sie intergeschlechtliche Kinder und Jugendliche”
In Österreich gibt es noch immer keinen ausreichenden Schutz von inter* Kindern und Jugendlichen. Weiterhin werden medizinische Eingriffe durchgeführt, die weder notwendig noch konsensuell sind. Die Politik hat soweit verabsäumt ein entsprechendes Gesetz zu verabschieden.

IDAHOBIT Demo
Am 17. Mai ist wieder IDAHOBIT. Dazu gibt es dieses Jahr zwei Demos in Wien, auf denen Venib-Mitglieder auch Reden halten werden.

Die Pride Saison beginnt mit der Mistelbach Pride am 20.Mai ab 13 Uhr am Hauptplatz (2130 Mistelbach)

St. Pride
Am 27. Mai wird es sehr bunt in St. Pölten. Zum dritten Mal zieht die Pride Parade ab 16 Uhr vom Hauptbahnhof zum Rathausplatz. Venib ist mit einem Stand am Rathausplatz vertreten. Komm vorbei und lerne uns kennen!

On the occasion of the International Day Against Homo-, Bi-, Inter- & Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), we are bringing out another newsletter.
Reception of the LGBTIQ Intergroup at the parliament
Last year a nonpartisan task group, the LGBTIQ-Intergroup, was formed. The goal is to promote the interaction between politics and the LGBTIQ community. At the beginning of April representatives of the community were invited to a reception at the parliament. Among other topics, the talk round drew attention to the lack of political protection for inter* children and against conversation treatments.
Drag is not a crime demonstration
On the 16th of April another children storytime by a drag queen took place at the Türkis Rosa Lila Villa. Only this time right-wing groups, among them the FPÖ and the Identitäre, gathered around 100 people in attempt to disrupt the book reading. The queer-friendly counter demonstration of about 500 people took up positions in and around the villa from dawn. Between the two demos were barriers and several rows of police officers. Loud boos and music, e.g. from Queen and ABBA, were the answer to the speeches with baiting content. Meanwhile the children storytime took place in the Villa as planned. Drag Queen Freya Van Kant read to about 40 children and parents. The fairy tale was about a princess who saved the prince from a dragon.
In the afternoon there was a solidarity rally with speeches and performances by queer musicians and drag artists. You can find photos and extracts from the speeches from our board members Diana and Rhonda

At the end of the art exhibition, we invited again to the Villa Vida. There was music and drag performances, of course by tin* people. In the courtyard people could relax at a bonfire.

Protect intersex children and youth)
In Austria there still is no sufficient legal protection of intersex children and youth. Still medical procedures are performed, which are neither necessary nor consensual. Politicians have so far failed to pass an appropriate law.

On the 17th of May is IDAHOBIT again. This year there will be two demos in Vienna, on both Venib members will hold speeches. On the 27th of May it will be very colourful in St. Pölten. For the third time, the Pride parade will move from 4pm from the Hauptbahnhof (=main train station) to the Rathausplatz. Venib will be present with an
